Download System Preferences for Mac Os X 10.6 8
In deleting 40GB of stuff that I longer needed for my Mac, I deleted System Preferences...
ane. I tried StellarPhoenix (deleted files recovery program) to no avail.
2. I updated my MacBook to the lastest Bone (10.6.8) & the trouble wasn't resolved.
3. I tried using Bluetooth & then a USB to place the System Preferences on i my Macs to the one that it is missing on... This didn't work, because the Mac that has System Preferences is on Leopard, and the i that information technology is missing on is on Snow Leopard... The Leopard system preferences doesn't role on the newer Bone I guess.
4. Some people recommend using the installation DVD to recover it somehow merely that'south been long lost.
When I update to Lion, will it be recovered somehow? Is that my only option?
PS I'one thousand pretty stupid when information technology comes to computers so I apologize upfront if anything I've written above does not brand sense.

Hello Everyone,
I have also deleted the 'System Preferences' Application and I have finally found a fix. This fix is very simple merely it works. Here are the steps to re-installing it. If you have a 2d mac with the same operating system and then bully, if not but go to the nearest Apple tree Store.
i.) Open up a new Finder window.
2.) On the left hand side of the window there is a tab labeled 'FAVORITES' under this tab at that place is the Application 'AirDrop'.
iii.) Open this app.
four.) On the 2nd Mac repeat steps 1-3.
v.) [second Mac] Get to the applications and drag the 'Organization Preferences' over to the 'AirDrop' window, hover it over the offset Mac and drib. Yous should go a message asking if y'all would like to send this over to "XYZ'south Computer" hitting accept.
6.) [outset Mac] On the first Mac take the file and open information technology.

Your solution doesn't work unless you accept access to another Mac with the same Bone, and Snow Leopard is no longer available for auction in whatsoever Apple tree shop. Note that this thread is a year old, and the OP had Snow Leopard installed, which doesn't include AirDrop and non all Macs that can run King of beasts volition support AirDrop. Also, AirDrop is non required to transfer files between Macs. Dropbox, electronic mail, network file sharing and many other solutions will piece of work, every bit well.

I have the same trouble but with leopard unfortunately snow leopard version wont prepare it tin someone please postal service the version my cd drive is cleaved want to prepare information technology for my girl
1. How are you all "accidentally" deleting System Preferences?
2. Why practise you have no backup?
3. Yous need to accept an installer disk (or recovery partition) so you tin reinstall your OS; run Disk Utility on your main internal volume; perform other emergency troubleshooting. If you lot don't have access to a working deejay or drive, then THAT is your major problem, non a lack of one app. (Also as no backup.)
iv. Don't accept system files from strange men on the internet. You don't know where they've been. (The files, not the men.)
Yesterday, when I was deleting files on my Mac figurer, I found out I deleted most of the organization preferences. Anyway, let me know if whatsoever of you folks have the missing arrangement preferences for the Mac Os X ten.6.eight computer and then you can send them to me on a ZIP file. They look like this, for example.

Need help, I'chiliad started to believe my daughter may have deleted the system preferences on her profile. Tried just creating a new contour for her and yet have no access. I do have access to it on my main admin account but tin't on any other profile. It shows as available in the top file bar but when clicked does nothing? Running 10.2.8 and no I don't have the install deejay Whatsoever help is greatly appreciated , thanks!

Hey guys I gatta say thaaanksssss, yous saved my arrss. Now what about deleted Utilities (all of them) 10.half-dozen.8 can get to deejay utilities to practice anything stytem is working fine otherwise other than my keyboard deceit spell.

No installation disk or such though
This automobile is in FRENCH and I'm trying to switch it to English: Unfortunately, the System Preference for ten.half dozen.viii installation says it is 'broken' or 'damaged'. Which means I can't go change the language!
I tried to download the available copies shared in a higher place, merely all of them gave me an error in DropBox (fault 403)... Could someone re-share this application delight?
